Nickel.nc, a new nickel for a new world.
The agency's consultants are assisting the government of New Caledonia in developing the approach and the Nickel.nc work cycle, initiated by President Thierry Santa.
The aim of this approach is to bring together nearly 120 stakeholders in order to build a shared knowledge base on nickel in New Caledonia, which will subsequently serve as a basis for political decision-makers.
All nickel-related stakeholders, including the population, are being consulted on the issues related to this activity, which is fundamental to New Caledonia's future. Nickel.nc allows all voices linked to the sector to express themselves: institutions, the State, associations, research centres, professional organisations, miners, metallurgists, subcontractors, administrations and Caledonians with citizen consultation.
Thematic working groups have been set up in which stakeholders are invited to freely share their practices, experiences, data, etc., and to set out their ideas, visions, constraints, etc.
The Nickel.nc work cycle is a continuation of previous work, such as the development of mining resources pattern or NC2025. Dedicated to fuel the political debate, it will enable elected representatives, in the long term, to draw, with all the cards in hand, the nickel strategy of tomorrow.
